North Chicago's Economic Development Team Working on New Appearance Code for City
The City of North Chicago is pleased to be working with its consultant, Kimley-Horn and Associates, on an Appearance Code project. This initiative involves developing a new set of design standards to guide future non-residential or mixed-use developments within the city.
Over the next few months, North Chicago’s Economic Development team will be drafting up these proposed standards to regulate the exterior of new or redeveloped buildings and ensure that the quality and aesthetic of future developments match North Chicago’s community values and vision.
Examples of the types of regulations which may be considered include permitted exterior building materials, exterior colors, window placements, entrance treatments, and building articulation, among many others.
As the team prepares to kick off this project, they are inviting community members to participate in discussions about this topic. If you are interested in participating in the discussion about the new Appearance Code please send an email to Economic Development Director, Taylor Wegrzyn at tayweg@northchicago.org.
