Join Us for a Community Tree Planting Day!

The City of North Chicago is excited to announce that we have been awarded 12 new trees through the Delta Institute! To celebrate, we’re partnering with Lake County and the Delta Institute to host a Community Tree Planting Day focused on beautifying our community and strengthening our local environment.

Come Plant with Us!

📅 October 29
⏰ 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
📍 North Chicago City Hall, 1850 Lewis Avenue

We’re inviting community members to roll up their sleeves and help us plant these new trees! Whether you’re an experienced gardener or have never planted a tree before, everyone is welcome to participate. Come be part of the planting! Please dress comfortably for the outdoors, as volunteers will be actively participating in tree-planting activities.

Questions? Contact Delta Institute’s Dean Lim at dlim@delta-institute.org or Patrick Murphy at pmurphy@delta-institute.org.

During the event, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Help plant new trees and make a lasting contribution to our community.
  • Learn tree-planting best practices from professionals at Johnson’s Nursery.
  • Get expert tree-care tips from a certified arborist who will be on-hand to answer questions and share guidance.

This tree planting is part of a larger regional effort to develop a “Tree Planting Consortium” supporting tree canopy restoration, community engagement, and partner capacity-building across Lake County, Illinois; Kenosha County, Wisconsin; and Racine County, Wisconsin. Together, we can help create a healthier, greener, and more beautiful community—one tree at a time!
