North Chicago Fire & Police Commission
The Fire & Police Commission is responsible, pursuant to Illinois State statutes and city ordinances, for testing, appointing and promoting personnel to and within the Police department and the Fire department for the city of North Chicago. Additionally, the Fire and Police commission conducts hearings for officers and members of the Police and Fire department for consideration of suspension and discharge.

North Chicago Police Citizens' Advisory Committee
The North Chicago Police Citizens' Advisory Committee works to improve relations within the City of North Chicago between its citizens and the Police Department by encouraging respectful and effective communications between the parties to address issues that are sources of concern for the citizens and the Police Department in a professional manner.

Planning and Zoning Commission
The Planning and Zoning Commission (PZC) consists of seven (7) members appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by City Council. The PZC has the responsibility for hearing and deciding upon applications for variations to the regulations of the City’s Zoning Ordinance. All meetings of the PZC are held at such times as the Board may determine.
Term of Office
The members serve alternating terms, four (4) members for three (3) years and two (2) members for two (2) years. The chairperson holds office for a period of two (2) years at which time the Mayor, subject to majority consent of the City Council, may either reappoint the chairperson or designate another member as chairperson.

Firefighters Pension Board
The Board of Trustees of the Firefighters' Pension Fund shall have control of the management of all funds belonging to or designed by law as a part of the Firefighters' Pension Fund and of the administration of such Fund, as provided by statute.
Term of Office
There shall be a Fire Pension Fund Board consisting of five (5) members. Of these members, two (2) shall be appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the Council, serving a term of three (3) years each; two (2) shall be elected from the regular fire force of the City, and one shall be elected from the beneficiaries of the pension. Each member shall serve for three (3) years and the elected members shall be selected in the manner provided by law.

Police Pension Fund
The Police Pension Fund Board works to manage, invest and control the Police Pension Fund and all monies pertaining thereto in the manner provided by statute.
Term of Office
There shall be a Police Pension Fund Board consisting of five (5) members. Of these members, two (2) shall be appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the Council, serving a term of two (2) years each; two (2) shall be elected from the regular police force of the City, and one shall be elected from the beneficiaries of the pension. Each member shall serve for two (2) years and the elected members shall be selected in the manner provided by law.

The Library Board shall have charge of the operation of the City library and of the expenditure of all library funds. Each year it shall file a report with the Council containing, among other things, an itemized statement of the expenses anticipated for the coming year, as required by law. The Board of Library Trustees shall have the power to make any reasonable rules and regulations governing the use of the library and library facilities.
Term of Office
The terms of Library Trustees shall be three (3) years, staggered so that three (3) terms expire each year, as provided by law.
Housing Authority
The Housing Authority of the City of North Chicago works to assist low-income families with safe, decent, sanitary and affordable housing opportunities as it strives to achieve self-sufficiency and improve the quality of their lives. The Housing Authority is committed to operating in an efficient, ethical, and professional manner. The Housing Authority will create and maintain partnerships with its clients and appropriate community agencies in order to accomplish this mission. The Board convenes on the third Wednesday of each Month at 5:30PM Leo Kukla Towers or either Thompson Manor. Board Meetings are open to the general public.
Term of Office
The Housing Authority of the City of North Chicago, Illinois has a five member board of commissioners who are appointed by the Mayor of the City North Chicago, Illinois and approved by the members of the North Chicago Board to serve a 4/5 year term. The Chairman and Vice Chairman are elected annually within the Board of Commissioners.
