Annual North Chicago Community Days to celebrate state bicentennial

NORTH CHICAGO, lll. – (Aug. 1, 2018)  August 4-5, 2018 marks the 13th Annual North Chicago Community Days, a local event hosted by the City of North Chicago, Foss Park District, and North Chicago School District 187. The festival includes music, food and family fun. This year’s event theme will recognize the year-long Illinois Bicentennial celebration.

Pre-event festivities begin Friday night with the return of the 5K/1 mile Family Fun Run followed by a Movie in the Park, showing Jumanji Welcome to the Jungle.

The event will officially kick off with a parade at 10:00 AM on Saturday.  Immediately following the parade is the annual car show, hosted by All Wheels Lake County, kids activities, food booths and our local vendor fair.

Saturday’s headlining act, BLT and the All Star Review, will begin at 6:00 PM. “Community Days has grown into something that everyone wants to be a part of – our businesses, churches, school groups, senior citizens and young people – we have something for everyone,” said Mayor Leon Rockingham. “Every year we add something new.” Saturday evening festivities conclude with the largest Community Days fireworks display to date!

The community unites on Sunday for a day of gospel music including performances by local musicians and headliner, Ricky Dillard.
