The City of North Chicago’s Human Resources Department provides a wide range of services to all city departments including but not limited to: recruitment, benefits administration, labor relations, organizational development, and training.

We serve the city by focusing efforts on the city’s most valuable asset: its employees. The department achieves its mission by recruiting, retaining, and developing staff through positive employee relations and effective group performance through internal consulting, problem resolution, and other strategies.

The Human Resources Department is responsible for managing all employee-related issues, such as benefits, employee relations, training, and recruitment. The city provides a system that compensates employees for their job performance through the annual performance evaluation process (unless designated by the Collective Bargaining Agreement). The city offers a cafeteria insurance benefit program to all full-time employees to provide affordable coverage for themselves and their families through the following plans:
